Jim Carrey and the interesting premise carry the movie for 55 min\* after which it devolves into a shallow, boring and generic love story and trite "life lesson" about being happy with what you have and have reverence for God. You can basically skip the second half and won't miss anything of relevance. Don't believe me? Watch it in full and after two weeks try to remember the second part. To be fair its a "family friendly" comedy made in the USA and likely had to appeal to children and Christians, so there is not much room for anything bold and provoking. Ultimately this movie will live on on Youtube for its funny "what if you were god" scenes but nobody will remember or care about the rest. \*around this time the scene ends where Steve Carell fails to read the news

Bruce Almighty
2003★ 6.7
Bruce Nolan toils as a "human interest" television reporter in Buffalo, NY, but despite his high ratings and the love of his beautiful girlfriend, Bruce remains unfulfilled. At the end of the worst day in his life, he angrily ridicules God — and the Almighty responds, endowing Bruce with all of His divine powers.
